2010 Ride for the Ribbon

On Saturday the 25th of September, my wife and I participated in the 2010 Ride for the Ribbon.  Here's a small snippet to give you a flavor of the event.

You couldn't have planned a more perfect day for a September ride.  The sun was out and the temperature was in the low 70s.  Simply perfect.  The ride left Steel City Harley Davidson, which is outside of Washington PA.  It was a short ride, we only went about 70 miles on the back roads of Washington county, but it was long enough for Paula.  We made a stop at about the 3/4 mark and then continued back to Steel City for food and a Chinese Auction.  Since Paula was tired we skipped out on the auction and ended up giving the tickets we had purchased to another rider who Paula struck up a conversation with while we were waiting in the long line for lunch.

Flip UltraHDThe cool thing is that this video is the first one I've created using my brand new Flip UltraHD video camera .  I can't get over how small and light this device is, nor that fact that such a small package can deliver such high quality movies.  All you do is point it and push the big red button on the back and you are recording an HD video with stereo sound.

The FlipShare software that comes packaged right on the device is easy to use and does about what any non-pro would need it to do.  The movie embedded above was put together using the FlipShare magic movie function.  All you do is drop the videos in and drag them to get the right order, enter the title text and the credit text and then choose some music which can be the only sound as in this one or be played along with the sound recorded in the movie.  It only took two minutes to configure the movie and a bit longer to save it.  Then right from within FlipShare you can connect to your YouTub account and publish your new movie for sharing with your friends.

The version I purchased is the brand new latest edition.  The previous model can be had for less than $140, however, the previous version did not have image stabilization built in.  Here are the top level features:

  • Shoot up to 2 hours of better-than-ever HD video on the easy-to-use, now even slimmer UltraHD
  • Press the big red button to start capturing vibrant HD video (720p / 60fps) on the super-simple user interface
  • Keep your video steady with image stabilization, UltraHD's newest feature
  • Connect the built-in USB arm to your PC or Mac to launch pre-loaded FlipShare software
  • Organize, create and share your videos with FlipShare software
