Kahr P380 Third Range Report
We finally had some beautiful weather concurrent with my ability to slip out to the range. This has been a miserable start to the year. I can't remember the last time we didn't get any golf in during either March or April. It seemed to be raining almost constantly. Thankfully we've had a couple of days of nice weather and my son and I could turn some money into bangs and holes in paper.
The Kahr P380 is my usual concealed carry firearm. I toss it into my strong side pocket on the way out of the door, tucked into a pocket holder from RKBA it rides comfortably and draws easily. During my first visit to the range to shoot this pistol I experienced a number of failure to ejects, feed issues and basic misery. It was not looking good. Kahr does have a 200 round break-in period so I didn't panic but getting through that period was looking to be a real pain.
During my second visit to the range, I still had some problems but not nearly as many as the first time. Things had noticeably improved. After that session I had put enough rounds through it to finnish the break-in period and more.

Any failures in your principal carry gun are unacceptable. This is a tool that needs to work if it is called upon. Failure can be fatal. I was pleased that during this third visit to the range, where I fired 50 Lellier & Bellot brass cased round, there were no failures. None at all. The pistol worked exactly the way it should work. Squeeze the trigger, it goes bang, ejects the spent brass and loads the next round into the chamber. While the past failures are still a concern, I feel much better having this pistol as my primary carry gun. Although it is really small and thin, the trigger is quite nice and without failures, it was actually fun to shoot. I'm looking forward to the next few hundred rounds.
