Ruger Mark III Anniversary Edition
On Friday, I probably paid too much for a new pistol. i wanted to own a quality firearm chambered in .22 LR. I had fully intended to purchase a Sig Mosquito, in spite of the many poor reviews I've read about the gun. I knew that many people recommended the Ruger as a really good gun but one that is very difficult to strip for cleaning. When it comes to computers, I'm a fairly smart guy, when it comes to using my hands to manipulate physical objects, my IQ would appear to be about 60. The Sig Mosquito is close in size to my Sig P226 Gadsden that I have gotten into the habit of carrying and I thought the Mosquito would be a fine gun to use on my club's plinking range.
I went to Ace to purchase the Mosquito and left with the Ruger Mark III. The Sig just felt cheap to me. The slide, the frame the whole package just didn't feel like a Sig to me. I've got one of their polymer framed guns, the P250, and I was expecting the Mosquito to be something like that firearm but it just wasn't. So I moved on to the Ruger and I'm very pleased that I did. I have a conversion kit on the way form my P226, so I will have something to use for practice with my carry gun and the Ruger to hone my target shooting skills. This gun is heavy.
It comes with an accessory rail to mount optics. I've added this to my new gun and the next time I head to the range, I will be trying out my Bushnell red dot sight on it for fun. The Mark III is a single action pistol and the trigger pull is silky smooth. I've only used it to shoot 50 rounds of plinking and I'm looking forward to blowing holes in paper targets to see just what this thing is capable of doing. My only complaints thus far are the small mags (10 rounds to remain in compliance with states that do not allow high capacity mags I guess) and the complexities of tearing the thing down.
